BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has strongly condemned National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah for belittling the significance of Operation Sindoor. Chugh voiced his concerns during a press briefing held on Monday, asserting that Abdullah’s remarks undermine the dedication of Indian security forces in their ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
Chugh responded directly to Abdullah’s statement that the operation “did not achieve anything.” Chugh labeled this comment as “shameful,” indicating a severe lack of respect for the sacrifices made by the armed forces. He emphasized that these forces have been pivotal in dismantling numerous terrorist training camps across the border in Pakistan, especially after the tragic death of 26 civilians due to attacks orchestrated by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam.
Highlighting the continuous nature of Operation Sindoor, Chugh referred to the recent blast at the Nowgam Police Station as a “stark reminder” of the valiant efforts of security personnel combating terrorism backed by Pakistan.
In a pointed critique, Chugh accused the Abdullah family, along with the Mufti family and the Gandhi family, of consistently playing into the hands of Pakistan’s narrative and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), despite their prominent roles in Indian politics. He firmly stated that it was “shocking” for a leader of Abdullah’s stature to cast doubt on the security forces’ contributions, particularly in the wake of intelligence agencies in Jammu & Kashmir uncovering one of the largest terror conspiracies in recent memory.
Amidst growing tensions, Chugh directed a sharp question towards Abdullah: Was he trying to sympathize with individuals who had amassed nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosives intended for devastating civilian casualties?
According to Chugh, the foiled terror plot was unprecedented in scale. He contended that had it not been thwarted by the JK Police and other security agencies, the impending destruction would have been catastrophic.
Chugh also expressed grief over the loss of nine officers and personnel of the J&K Police during the Nowgam blast, describing the incident as “heartbreaking for the nation.” He accused Farooq Abdullah of neglecting the martyrdom of these brave individuals while exploiting the situation to propagate a pro-Pakistan stance.
Chugh stressed the importance of recognizing and appreciating the courageous actions that saved countless lives, contrasting this with Abdullah’s inclination to echo sentiments favoring the Pakistani military and ISI. This, he argued, unveiled the vulnerabilities of what he termed the ‘Gupkar Gang’ and raised questions about whether the Congress and Rahul Gandhi endorse such views through their “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” political campaign.
