Rahul Gandhi Granted Bail in Bengaluru Defamation Case Filed by BJP

Bengaluru, June 7 : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by a special court on Friday in a defamation case filed by the BJP’s Karnataka unit. The case pertains to advertisements published in mainstream newspapers ahead of last year’s Assembly polls, accusing the then BJP government of large-scale corruption during its 2019-2023 tenure.

Earlier, on June 1, the court had granted bail to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also the State Congress chief, following their appearance in connection with the same defamation case.

Judge K.N. Shivakumar had directed Gandhi to appear before the court on June 7 without fail.
