Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully conducted long-range patrolling and an anti-terror mock drill in Samba district on Tuesday. This initiative aims to assess operational preparedness, strengthen security arrangements, and ensure prompt responses to any potential contingencies.
The long-range patrolling exercise, led by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, covered nearly 20 kilometers from Jatwal to Lala Chak along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway. Such extensive patrolling is crucial for fortifying security in the region.
Following the patrolling, personnel participated in a mock drill at the border police post in Lala Chak. This simulation was designed to evaluate the readiness of the officers in a scenario involving a terrorist attack. The exercise included two simulated terrorists staging an attack on a government establishment. In response, the SOG personnel swiftly established a cordon around the area, demonstrating their capability to neutralize threats effectively.
The primary aim of the mock drill was to test various aspects of operational response, including coordination, tactical preparedness, and the ability to handle emergencies. Senior officials highlighted the importance of such drills for enhancing the overall safety of the public, particularly in light of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
Samba Senior Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining robust security protocols. He emphasized their dedication to ensuring the safety of citizens, noting that these exercises reflect their readiness to tackle potential threats.
