Three suspected drug peddlers, including a 17-year-old boy, faced arrest after police seized heroin in Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The police made these arrests late Sunday evening, reflecting their ongoing crackdown on narcotics.
The teenager was intercepted while riding a motorcycle from Balole Khad towards JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba. A police spokesperson revealed that officers discovered 3.36 grams of heroin during a routine checking operation. Authorities seized both the contraband and the motorcycle from the minor.
Authorities registered a case against the teenager under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The juvenile was subsequently presented before the competent authority and placed in an observation home located in R S Pura, Jammu.
In a separate incident, police apprehended two additional narcotic smugglers in the Billawar area of Kathua district on the same day. During checking operations at Galak, officers confiscated 23 grams of heroin from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pawan Dev Singh from Majalta, Udhampur, and Naresh Singh from Makwal-Ramkot, Kathua.
The police confirmed they registered cases against both drug peddlers under the NDPS Act. These recent arrests indicate a continued effort by the Jammu and Kashmir police to combat drug trafficking in the region.
