The country’s future will be at risk if the RSS gains full control of the education system, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said on Monday.
Speaking at a protest organized by student organizations affiliated with the INDIA bloc, the former Congress president emphasized that while the alliance partners may have ideological and policy differences, they stand united in protecting the country’s education system.
“One organization is working to destroy the future of our youth and the education system of this country—the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). If they take full control, which is already happening gradually, India will suffer. Unemployment will rise, and the country will be ruined,” Gandhi said while addressing demonstrators at Jantar Mantar.
He further warned that vice-chancellors of Indian universities are being appointed under RSS influence, and soon, state universities will follow the same pattern.
Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that while he spoke about the Maha Kumbh in Parliament last week, he failed to address pressing issues like unemployment and inflation.
“The prime minister never speaks about unemployment, inflation, or the education system. Their model is clear—hand over the country’s resources to Adani and Ambani while giving institutions to the RSS,” he alleged.
Urging student activists to take a stand, he added:
“As students of the INDIA bloc, we may differ on some ideological aspects, but we can never compromise on education. This is a battle we must fight together to stop the RSS from taking over.”
Last month, Gandhi had also participated in a protest against the draft UGC regulations organized by the DMK. He accused the government of using these regulations to push the RSS agenda, aiming to impose “one history, one tradition, one language” on the entire country.
