In a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday urged the people of Delhi to remember who was behind the “biggest scam” in the capital while casting their votes. Gandhi, speaking about the need for clean politics, took to social media to appeal to the voters and highlight the Congress party’s commitment to protecting people’s rights and restoring Delhi’s progress.
While casting his vote in the New Delhi constituency at the Nirman Bhawan polling centre, Gandhi said, “My dear brothers and sisters of Delhi, I appeal to all of you to go and vote today. Your every vote for the Congress will protect your rights, strengthen the Constitution, and put Delhi back on the path of progress.”
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi further emphasized the issues affecting the capital, questioning, “While voting, remember who is responsible for polluted air, dirty water, and broken roads. Who committed the biggest scam in Delhi by talking about practising clean politics?”
Voting is currently underway for the high-stakes Delhi Assembly elections, with the AAP aiming for a third consecutive term, capitalizing on its governance record and welfare programs. Meanwhile, the BJP and Congress are looking to regain lost ground. Polling is being held at 13,766 stations across 70 Assembly constituencies, with 699 candidates in the race.
The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years until 2013, is striving for a resurgence after failing to secure a single seat in the last two elections. The outcome of these elections is expected to reshape the political landscape of Delhi.
