In a significant move to curb traffic violations and promote road safety, police in Sub-division Mendhar laid surprise nakas resulting in the challaning of as many as 40 violators under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The special drive, led by officers from the Mendhar Police Sub-division, caught many violators off-guard. Common offences included riding without helmet, driving without valid documents, overloading, and rash driving among others.
Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized that such drives are not just punitive but aimed at cultivating responsible driving habits among the public. They further stated that similar surprise checks and awareness activities shall continue in the coming weeks across the district.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Poonch Police to ensure public safety and minimise road mishaps through pre-requisite combination of enforcement and education.
