Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Celebrates J&K Artisans’ Award

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed his heartfelt congratulations to J&K artisans who received the esteemed National Handloom Award from President Draupadi Murmu. This accolade recognizes the outstanding craftsmanship that defines the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.

Artisan weavers Manzoor Ahmad Hajam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani earned this prestigious award for their exceptional skill in crafting the exquisite Chanddar Kani Shawl. Their work not only highlights their talent but also reflects the timeless legacy and artistic excellence inherent in the handloom tradition of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a post on his official X handle, Abdullah stated, “I extend my warm congratulations to these artisans, whose dedication and creativity elevate our cultural identity.” He emphasized the need to acknowledge the immense contribution of local artisans in enhancing the handloom sector.
