NFJM Launches New Press & Media Centre to Boost Journalism in Jammu

The National Foundation for Journalism & Media (NFJM) inaugurated its first Press & Media Centre today in Jammu, aiming to enhance ethical journalism and public engagement.

On September 24, the NFJM hosted a significant opening ceremony at F-1/8C, Trikuta Shopping Complex, B.C. Road, attended by Dr. Tahir Rufayee, the chairman of NFJM, media professionals, journalists, and members of the public.

During the inaugural address, Dr. Rufayee highlighted the Centre’s mission: “This Press & Media Centre will serve as a hub for fair reporting, informed public engagement, and responsible journalism. NFJM is committed to strengthening democratic values through truthful and ethical media practices.” His comments underscored the urgent need for credible media channels in today’s fast-paced information landscape.

The establishment of the Press & Media Centre aims to provide essential resources for various journalistic activities including news reporting, publications, press conferences, media briefings, research, and public engagements. This initiative enables journalists and media practitioners to collaborate effectively, fostering an environment of transparency and accountability in journalism.

With this Centre, NFJM addresses the pressing need for professional platforms that facilitate ethical journalism. S.Harjeet Singh played a key role in bringing this vision to life, emphasizing the importance of equitable access to information for a democratic society.

The new facility is expected to not only enhance the quality of journalism in Jammu but also empower local journalists with the tools needed to engage responsibly with their audiences. Dr. Rufayee’s vision reflects a broader commitment to uphold the integrity of the media profession.

As Jammu continues to evolve as a significant player in regional media, the NFJM’s Press & Media Centre will serve as a pivotal resource for journalists dedicated to ethical reporting. With facilities for comprehensive research and community engagement, this Centre promises to forge stronger connections between the press and the public.

In a time when misinformation spreads easily, initiatives like the NFJM’s Press & Media Centre play a crucial role in cultivating informed citizenry and nurturing democracy. This Centre stands as a beacon for aspiring journalists in Jammu, driving the mission of responsible and accurate journalism.
