Kovind Urges Youth to Join Politics Amid Concerns

Former President Ramnath Kovind addressed the Vijayadashmi rally in Nagpur on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of youth participation in politics. He lamented that “good people” tend to shy away from political life, which impacts the democratic fabric of the nation. Kovind, who served as the 14th President of India, urged young individuals to step forward and contribute to the political landscape.

Kovind spoke as the chief guest at the annual rally hosted by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Reshimbagh ground. “The values of national unity and social harmony shared by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar have profoundly influenced my journey,” he stated. He admired how both leaders helped shape his understanding of Indian society and its diverse fabric.

He emphasized that the RSS promotes an ideology devoid of casteism and discrimination. “In RSS, everyone works together for the nation’s progress, regardless of their background,” Kovind declared. His remarks sought to inspire today’s youth to embrace political engagement for a more inclusive governance.

Kovind highlighted that his insights into the societal structure came from the teachings and thoughts of Hedgewar. He remarked, “The philosophy of our leaders has illuminated my path and continues to challenge the youth to uphold the values of unity and fraternity.”

In an inspiring call to action, he asserted, “I urge the youth not to sidestep politics; your voice and actions can drive change.” His appeal resonates with many young Indians who feel disillusioned by the current political climate.

During the event, Kovind also announced that he is working on a new book titled ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic,’ which aims to reflect on the journey of Indian democracy since its inception. His literary endeavor indicates an ongoing commitment to nurturing a discourse on national issues.

The Vijayadashmi rally also commemorated the centenary celebrations of the RSS, which was founded by Hedgewar on Dussehra in 1925. As the organization completes 100 years, Kovind’s remarks signify a pivotal moment, urging the next generation to lead with courage and conviction.
