DISTRICT POLICE POONCH Major Bovine Smuggling Attempt Foiled by Poonch Police, 36 Bovines Rescued

In a significant operation against illegal bovine smuggling, Poonch Police successfully intercepted five vehicles at Chandimarh Naka, foiling an attempt to transport 36 bovine animals without mandatory permission from the District Magistrate, Poonch.

 

Acting on specific inputs, the police team at PP Behramgala stopped the following vehicles:

JK12L-6027, JK12B-3919, JK12A-2968, JK12D-8777, and JK12A-0875, which were found to be carrying the bovines in violation of the established guidelines.

 

During preliminary investigation, the following accused persons were apprehended:

 

1. Ghulam Nabi, S/o Jalal Din, R/o Chakthoo, Haveli Poonch

2. Mohd Fareed, S/o Sher Mohd, R/o Haveli Poonch

3. Sajjad Ahmed, S/o Mohd Tariq, R/o Surankote

4. Wajahat Younis, S/o Jalal Din, R/o Chakthoo, Poonch

5. Khalid Rashid, S/o Mohd Rashid, R/o Surankote

 

All individuals were found violating the guidelines which prohibit unauthorized transport of bovine animals across districts.

 

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 79/2025 U/S 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation is underway.

 

District Police Poonch reiterates its commitment to enforcing the law and taking strict action against any violations that threaten public order and harmony.
