RAMBAN, JULY 8: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, chaired a vital Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting today. The gathering aimed to review disaster preparedness and enhance inter-departmental coordination in response to natural hazards like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.
Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, Naib Tehsildar Inktikhab Ahmed, and other departmental officers attended. Key representatives from the Sub-Division also participated, including AEE Jal Shakti Rakesh Soni and officials from 23 RR Gool, Beacon Mahore, and Batote.
During the meeting, the SDM conducted a thorough review of the existing disaster management plan. He discussed the availability of resources, stock of essential commodities, functioning of control rooms, and communication systems within the sub-division. The SDM instructed all line departments to maintain high alertness ahead of the approaching monsoon season and ensure continuous monitoring of areas vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.
The SDM emphasized the importance of proactive strategies and effective coordination among departments to address emergencies swiftly. He directed the Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY departments to identify at-risk locations, ensuring they prepare teams and machinery for immediate response. The Health department must ensure access to medicines, ambulances, and sufficient medical personnel at CHC Gool and local PHCs.
Moreover, the FCS&CA department must maintain a buffer stock of essential rations. The PDD needs to secure backup power supply arrangements to keep essential services operational during disasters.
Regular inspections of vulnerable areas will fall on the Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars, who will keep updated lists of disaster-prone regions. The SDM highlighted the critical role of public awareness, encouraging community involvement in disseminating safety measures.
The police and 23 RR were tasked with supporting rescue operations and evacuations, while Beacon representatives received directives to facilitate quick road restoration in case of blockades.
Emphasizing safety, the SDM asserted that lives and property remain the administration’s top concern. He reiterated that effective coordination, timely responses, and public cooperation are vital to mitigate the effects of disasters.
As the monsoon season approaches, the administration assures full preparedness for any potential natural calamity, underscoring the need for community vigilance and collaboration.
