The Delhi Police apprehended two notorious criminals connected to foreign-based gangs during a dramatic encounter in the Kapashera area on Friday. The arrests shed light on a larger nexus between local criminals and international gangster syndicates.
The suspects, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, hail from Rajasthan. Rajput has a notorious reputation with multiple pending charges related to extortion and kidnapping across key states including Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Police has placed a ₹20,000 bounty on him, highlighting his dangerous profile.
Significantly, Rajput faces serious allegations related to the July 2022 shooting outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal. This incident reportedly occurred on the orders of gangster Daler Kotia. Additionally, Rajput is wanted for his involvement in a July 2025 kidnapping case in Gujarat, where gangster Kirit Singh Jhala demanded a staggering ₹100 crore ransom.
Terrifyingly, Jhala has recently allied himself with notorious criminals Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan, further complicating the law enforcement challenge in the region. Similarly, Mahipal, who faced earlier charges related to the Karnal firing case, had been out on bail yet continued his association with this dangerous criminal network.
During the police operation in Kapashera, a violent exchange erupted, resulting in Rajput sustaining a bullet injury to his lower body. Authorities swiftly transported him to a hospital for urgent medical treatment while they continue a thorough investigation into the broader implications of these arrests.
A police officer discussing the incident stated, “The level of violence associated with these gangsters indicates a rising trend in organized crime locally. Our operations reflect our commitment to combating this increasing menace to society.”
These arrests underlie the critical need for heightened vigilance against organized crime in Delhi and adjoining regions as law enforcement works tirelessly to dismantle these networks.
