Congress Accuses BJP-RSS of Conspiracy Against Rahul Gandhi

The Congress party has ramped up its criticism of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of orchestrating a conspiracy against Rahul Gandhi. This escalation follows controversial remarks made by Printu Mahadev, a former leader of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who issued a shocking death threat towards the Leader of Opposition. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera claims that those on the losing side of the ideological battle are behind the move to silence Gandhi.

The tense standoff reached a boiling point when Mahadev publicly stated that ‘Rahul Gandhi will be shot in the chest’ during a televised debate. Khera expressed outrage, noting that no action has yet been taken against Mahadev, leading Congress to question the ruling party’s motives. “A BJP spokesperson made a chilling declaration on national television, and there has been no follow-up action. The safety of Rahul Gandhi is being compromised yet again,” Khera asserted.

Khera emphasized the seriousness of this threat, connecting it to an overall attempt to intimidate political opposition. He stated, “This reeks of a conspiracy. Who is behind it, and why isn’t the government acting to protect the Leader of Opposition?”

Highlighting the socio-political context, Khera referred to allegations of electoral malpractice against the BJP. He claimed that the party’s desperation has led to violent rhetoric aimed at silencing dissenting voices. “From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, people resonate with the issues raised by Gandhi. They fear exposure and seek to suppress it through intimidation,” he added.

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal also voiced his concerns, sending a formal complaint to Home Minister Amit Shah. In his letter, he condemned Mahadev’s statements as incitement to violence, warning that the inaction by authorities would imply complicity in normalizing violence against political leaders. Venugopal stated, “This goes beyond a slip of tongue. It is a calculated death threat against one of India’s foremost political figures.”

In the missive, Venugopal called on the government to clarify its stance regarding the rhetoric of violence propagated by its spokespersons. “Do you support the toxic politics of intimidation when your party is being challenged ideologically?” he questioned.

The Congress party considers the threat not just an attack against an individual, but a broader assault on the democratic values that Rahul Gandhi represents. In his view, allowing such threats to persist reflects a troubling trend of hate and violence in Indian politics. “Such statements make Rahul Gandhi increasingly vulnerable to violence, undermining the constitutional guarantees owed to all citizens,” he added.

Venugopal concluded his letter with a robust demand for immediate action against Mahadev. He stated that the nation expects a stringent legal response, signaling that the Congress will not stand idly by in the face of threats against its leaders. “Swift and severe action is imperative to ensure justice is served. Anything less would be a dereliction of duty by your ministry,” he emphasized.
