Amit Shah Accuses Congress of Not Revoking Article 370 for Appeasement Politics

KARNAL, May 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday criticized the Congress party for not revoking Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of engaging in appeasement politics. Addressing an election rally in Karnal, Shah reaffirmed that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) belongs to India and vowed, “We will take it back.”

Shah also took aim at senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi, for not participating in the Ram temple’s consecration ceremony, suggesting their absence was a bid to appease the minority vote bank.

Targeting the Congress on the Kashmir issue, Shah said, “For appeasement politics, they did not revoke Article 370,” despite the increase in terrorism in the region. He contrasted this with the actions of the current government, stating, “You all made Narendra Modi ji the Prime Minister for the second time, and on August 5, 2019, he scrapped Article 370. And now our tricolour proudly flutters in Kashmir.”

The rally was also attended by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who is contesting the Karnal assembly bypoll, and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is a candidate for the Karnal Lok Sabha seat.
