Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital in Qamarwari, Srinagar, today, spotlighting the transformative role of AI-powered technologies in advancing healthcare.
During the ceremony, Sinha highlighted the pressing need for the medical community to ensure accessible and affordable care, particularly in rural and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Modern technologies have fundamentally revolutionized eye care over the past decade. AI-powered systems now allow for faster, more accurate diagnoses and treatments, thereby increasing healthcare access,” Sinha asserted.
He urged hospitals like Dr. Agarwals to leverage these technologies to match the level of care available in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, thus narrowing the healthcare gap experienced by rural populations.
Sinha also emphasized the significant advancements in Jammu Kashmir’s healthcare sector, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “Every citizen should have access to quality healthcare. The rapid expansion of both government and private healthcare infrastructure is crucial for a healthy future for all.”
The Lieutenant Governor encouraged hospitals to organize free eye check-up camps throughout the region, particularly in underserved rural and border areas. He advocated for the integration of telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations to enhance service reach.
Present at the inauguration were notable figures including Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr. Agarwals Group; Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services at the Srinagar hospital; and various government officials dedicated to improving healthcare.
“Utilizing innovative technologies in eye care can immensely benefit our communities,” Dr. Agarwal remarked. He reiterated the hospital’s commitment to expanding access to eye care for every citizen in J&K.
